FACES - Joint International Family Sciences Conference 2026
It is our pleasure to announce the first-ever joint international conference, launched by the Family Sociology Section of the German Sociological Association (DGS), the Family Research Working Group of the Austrian Sociological Association (ÖGS), the Life Course research committee of the Swiss Sociological Association (SSA) and the Swiss Research Center LIVES, in collaboration with the German Youth Institute (DJI).
Title: FACES - Families And Challenges in Evolving Societies in the D-A-CH Region and beyond
Date: 26. & 27. February 2026
Venue: German Youth Institute (DJI), Munich, Germany
The keynote address will be given by Prof. Charlotte Faircloth from University College London.
We expect contributions from many disciplines and perspectives that address new developments in family research or emerging social family dynamics, contributions that challenge established topics or transcend disciplinary or geographical boundaries, and contributions of empirical research (qualitative, quantitative, or mixed methods) or conceptual contributions.
In addition, a PhD workshop will be held on February 25, 2026, aimed explicitly at doctoral students who would like to discuss (sub)projects or proposals for their dissertation in a smaller setting. Prof. Ulrike Zartler will give a keynote presentation on publication strategies in the context of dissertations.
Further details and updates will be published on an ongoing basis.
